Fashion Industry Gallery to Showcase Ferrah by Lela Orr

The concept of sustainability is receiving an ever-growing amount of attention in the fashion world – and we’re not just talking about recycled fabric tees. In fact, even the 2020 Academy Awards Oscars red carpet showcased luxury designer gowns incorporating sustainable elements. Looking to the future of this industry, however it may have seemed just a short time ago that fashion and true sustainability would be incompatible, this is certainly one of the next hot trends.

Enter Lela Orr, who has found a way to combine fashion and sustainability into one beautiful brand.

This up-and-coming designer is already gaining attention from top fashion magazines and celebrities alike for her eco-luxury designs, including competing in Season 17 of Project Runway wherein she showed the world her sustainable style. And it all started with sewing machine and a dream.

As a Dallas native, Lela grew up reading her grandmother’s Vogue magazines, which sparked her love of fashion and led her to take up sewing. From the beginning, her creations were about more than just the clothes; instead, they represented Lela’s take on wearable art. She later decided to pursue her passion as a career and graduated from New York’s prestigious Parsons School of Design ready to establish herself in the world of fashion.

Her next step was approaching Fashion X Dallas to debut her graduate collection at Dallas Fashion Week. This platform led to her first custom orders and the decision to launch Ferrah, her own women’s brand, in 2016. Ethically made by women, for women, the line showcases classic French silhouettes and neutral tones, utilizing natural materials and dyes with a focus on zero-waste craftsmanship. In just a few short years, Ferrah has been featured in Elle and WWD, and is now sold worldwide and worn by celebrity clients including Elena Davies and Nadya Okamoto.

Fashion Industry Gallery will showcase Lela Orr as a Featured Designer at an upcoming market. A visual installation of her work will be accompanied by a personal appearance.

Fashion Industry Gallery is open to the trade only. Click here to register and attend f.i.g. markets and stay tuned for details on Lela's upcoming showcase at f.i.g.!
