It's been all about the statement fur recently, but this season, we're going back to basics. Seen at Coach, Marc Jacobs, and Michael Kors, vintage-inspired fur coats that could be easily mistaken for a fabulous flea market find. So start rummaging through Granny’s closet to stay on trend this Fall season.
The color block trend just came back in a big, big way. But it’s not the color blocking that we’re used to, it’s less old school. Instead the trend has a perfectly modern update that makes us want to give this look another shot.
It is safe to say that Velvet has ruled the runway this fashion week! Whether it was a well-cut dress or pants and a top, designers were still crushing on this expressive texture this season from nude hues to pops of color.
Back to Granny’s closet for yet another trend? Florals for Fall is a little unexpected. Nevertheless, they blossomed in muted hues on looks by Marchesa, Coach, Delpozo and Cinq á Sept. Flowers done in pops of mustard, poppy red and magenta kissed clothes with a hint of spring.
RAD IN PLAID
Call it tartan, plaid, or houndstooth— it will be everywhere this Fall. The designers offered so many ways to reinvent this classic school yard pattern. These patterns at last week’s fashion week, were used on Wall Street-worthy pantsuits, preppy pleated skirts, oversized coats, all the way to an evening gown or two.
Fall’s best party pieces are made for ‘shimmy-shaking’. Whether strategically positioned on the hem of a skirt or cascading down the length of a dress, fringe added a sense of playfulness and fun to many collections.
